Le Bagotier | The Baggage Carrier or Porter
The bagotier, or baggage carrier, carried light baggage for people or companies, usually near the wharves of ships or railways. He was known for running after loaded vehicles to help passengers unload once they stopped. The baggage carrier was often considered a day labourer.
