Le Renardier | Fox Catcher
The renardier, or fox catcher, was the long-sawyer positioned below the log and holding the bottom of the saw. The chevrier, or goatherd was on top of the log and held the top of the saw. See the scieur de long, or long sawyer page for more information.
Alternatively, a renardier captured or raised foxes.
